I've heard this Craps strategy mentioned over the years, and seen a lot of interest in this currently with people claiming that a modified version is unbeatable.
I have trouble believing that or everyone would play it and the casinos would either be bankrupt, banning people, or changing the game. So have you ever played it? How well does it work? Sevens , May 11, I had never heard of it, but I must say it does have a really unfortunately name. I did look it up though, and since it is a specific combination of bets if it beat the house every time, the casinos would have changed the rules to block it.
Melissa , Jun 6, This is "companion betting. I have personally bet the routine and, I think, profited from it. The fly in the ointment is that the average craps decision is made about every 3. Four bets are at risk. While "Iron Cross" is entertaining to bet, I haven't found a combination that is profitable. I am not sure that a combination is possible.
This is an unanswered question. The "Iron Cross" faces the Iron Equation that only one bet may be won with a dice roll but four bets may be lost. A change of perspective can radically affect the opinion of success of a betting routine.

This is the first of a series of challenge posts. I intend the problems to be do-able rather than mind boggling: Think of it as Web 2. Or think of it as Yahoo! Answers , blog edition. What can you do with these yootles? Well, to make a long story short, you can spend them with me, people who trust me, people who trust people who trust me, etc. So, on with the challenge! I just returned from a pit stop in Las Vegas, so this one is weighing on my mind.
So on a fixed budget, craps can be exceedingly dangerous. So that this challenge is not vague and open ended, let me boil this overall goal down into something fairly specific:. I prefer if you ignore the center bets in your analysis. Another way to motivate this is as follows: I have a small fixed budget but want to hang around a high-limit table for as long as possible, because I get a better atmosphere, more drinks, and a glimpse of life as a high roller. As an example, here is a strategy that appears to have very low variance: If the shooter rolls 2, 3, 7, or 11 you break even.
You have absolutely no possibility of winning: One thing you might add to this strategy to satisfy condition 1 is to take or give odds whenever the shooter establishes a point.
Another bonus point question: In terms of variance, is it better to place a single pass line bet with large odds, or is it better to place a number of come bets all with smaller odds? To submit your answer to this challenge, post a comment with a link to your solution.
If you can dig up the answer somewhere on the web, more power to you. If you can prove something analytically, I bow to you. Otherwise, I expect this to require some simple Monte Carlo simulation. Followed of course by some Monte Carlo verification. The winner is … Fools Gold! Now ofcourse this can make the experience short and sweet if you lose that first bet or the first few bets.
Casinos want all their games to have an edge for the house, and, for the most part, all their games do have house edges, some high, some low. Blackjack is a singular exception because it is possible for some players to get the mathematical edge at that game by playing perfect strategy and keeping track of the cards that have been played.
Not many people can do that in the real world and blackjack makes a boatload of money for the casinos, mostly from people who think they can beat the game if they play this or that homegrown system long enough. The mathematical underpinnings of all the other casino games rely on randomness; as in the spin of a roulette ball that then bounces randomly from pocket to pocket and where it stops nobody knows; the random shuffling of cards, usually by machine, at Let It Ride and Caribbean Stud before dealing out only a single round; the throwing of dice against a back wall that has foam-rubber pyramids to deflect and make them randomly bounce hither and yon.
Randomness is the key to these games and the math and money the casinos haul in is based on a random distribution of results. Given such a random distribution of results, in the long run the casinos must win, as they rarely pay off bets at the true odds.
They must win and indeed they do. However, in craps if the game is "derandomized," the mathematical underpinnings of it must change. Take a simple example. The 6 comes up five times for every six times a 7 comes up. But what if a player can learn how to play craps in a way that changes the game so that the 6 and 7 come up the same number of times, say, six times each? Suddenly the dice controller is in the catbird seat.
He has flipped the game in his favor big time. Players who attempt to flip the game to favor them can only do so by exerting influence over the results of their throws. This is called many names, rhythmic rolling, controlled shooting, precision shooting, but all these names mean one thing the player is trying to influence the dice so that the result of the game is no longer random.
